I work on mobile distributed systems, applications, and programming models. Professor Li-Shiuan Peh is my advisor.

Mobile phone applications as they are built today are constrained by short battery lives, high network latencies, and, often, due to the use of the client-server programming model, an inability to use a phone's resources optimally.

We seek mobile solutions where some or all of the work done on servers is delegated to mobile phones. Doing so would reduce cellular network load and make better use of mobile hardware. We hope and actively try to ensure that these systems will use up less or equivalent amounts of battery life than that which is used by current mobile systems. Furthermore, in building these solutions, we use short-range wireless technologies as a substitute for cellular network communication, when possible, to avoid cellular network latencies and to enable the implementation of distributed algorithms.
